Poodle Miniature Black - Group IX. - Companion and Toy Dogs, Section 2 - Poodle.
General Appearance:
A popular companion dog became Poodle not only because of its friendly and cheerful nature, fidelity, docility and easy trainability, which makes it a pleasant companion, but also because of the variety of several sizes and many shades of colours. It's very clever, honest, sensible, but also playful, lively and sporty, nimble and dexterous dog. It can also be surprisingly tenacious and persistent, courageous.
As a traditional companion dog it dependents on the owner and members of owner´s family, kind and affectionate, gentle, always cheerful, good mood. "Its people" is devoted and loyal but tolerate even strangers. Willingly and happily it is playing with the children, it does not seek conflicts with other dogs and it is able to live a "common household" and various "pets".
Temperament / Behaviour:
It is easy for owner to train this breed it must be a calm and prudent approach and warm elementary consistency. As a perceptive dog it is sensitive to the intonation (not intensity) voice. It is necessary for dog to speak softly, but understandably with the intonation. Verbal praise must "pat reprimand pull the skin."
It is agile and well suited for agility and obedience training and it often applies in variety shows and circus performances. It is grossly mistaken those who after seeing Poodle well groomed they believe that it is a breed that you can play with as a toy. Exclusively groomed Poodle it is not just a matter of groomer, but also a work of patience of a dog, that must be from puppy age get used to all these procedures.
People are not aware, that perfectly groomed Poodle is vibrant artworks, which does not mean “it's not a dog at all”.
In any case it is independent dog, due its performance e.g., by racing (especially over wicker obstacles wicker), it is sporty, industrious and competitive.
Body:
This is a dog harmonious construction, well proportioned, with a typical coat which can be either curly or corded. Its appearance must always be graceful, proud demeanour. The length of the body from the front edge of the shoulder to point of buttock in the pan is slightly larger than height at withers. It has to be practically the same as the height of the rear, measured at the level of hipbones.
Standard FCI recognizes four sizes: Standard, Medium, Miniature and Toy.
Standard Poodle is height at withers from 45 to 60 cm with a tolerance of +2 cm, Medium Poodle is 35-45 cm, Miniature Poodle is 28-35 cm and Toy Poodle 24-28 cm, while the ideal is considered height at withers 25 cm with a tolerance of -1 cm. Standard Poodle must be symmetrical enlargement of the Medium Poodle retaining all its typical features, Medium Poodle must be symmetrical Miniature Poodle secondary and must not show signs of nanism growth (nanism) and Toy Poodle must be proportional Miniature Poodle also no signs of nanism, only the occipital part it may be less noticeable.
The head is noble, straight outlines proportion to the body, shapely, not heavy and massive (gross), nor too light and too soft. Scissor bite is required. Teeth are strong.
Eyes are stored at the level of the track oblique, almond-shaped, keen of expression, black or dark brown in colour, with brown may be dark amber. The edges of the eyelids must be black in black, white and grey, apricot colours for individuals (orange fawn) or red may be brown or black.
Skull should be oval when viewed from above, when viewed from the side, slightly arched above. Its top line is viewed from the side in an imaginary extension of slightly divergent with the muzzle. Longitudinal furrow, front is wide between the eyes and gradually tapers to a significant occipital part. The frontal slope (stop) should be gradual. The muzzle must be strong its length is equal to about 9/10 of the skull.
The muzzle is completely flat, large nose, with black, white and gray is black, with brown is brown, in apricot (orange fawn) and red brown or black. Lips may be adjacent to the jaw and teeth - in black, white and silver are the edges of black, brown with brown hair orange fawn (orange) and black fawn light to dark brown or black. Eyes are stored at the level of the track, somewhat oblique, almond-shaped and keen of expression, black or dark brown in colour; with brown may be dark amber. The edges of the eyelids must be black in black, white and gray, apricot colours for individuals (orange fawn) or red may be brown or black. The earlobes are quite long, loosely hanging along the cheeks, flat, set in the extension of the connector tip of the nose and the outer corner of eye, with wider bases, atop rounded, covered with very long wavy hair.
The neck is strong, the neck slightly arched, medium length, on imaginary oval cross-section, without dewlap on the throat. Head high and proudly. The body must be perfectly proportional. Withers are reasonably significant, short ridge, upper body lines smooth and firm. Loins are strong and muscular. Croup: Rounded but not falling away. The tail must be deployed quite high. It can be either naturally long or docked to 1/3 or 1/2 of the original length (only in countries where there is no law to protect animals, this action is disabled). The attitude is carried low the move is raised obliquely.
The forelegs should be perfectly straight and parallel, well muscled, adequately strong bones. The hindquarters should be viewed from behind parallel their muscles are powerful and very clear. Angulations of the hip joints knees and hocks significantly. Feet should be rather small, tight, short oval shape. The hair is curly, or in cord. Curled must be fluffy, delicate texture resembling wool, very frizzy, elastic and dense, rich. In cord coat should be profuse, fine texture reminiscent of the wave. Long lines form characteristic min. 20 cm.
The coat colour must be uniform, black, white, brown, silver (silver grey), orange fawn (apricot) or red. Brown must be rich, quite dark, uniform throughout all body by warm shade. Beige and its paler shades are not permitted. Silver should be uniform throughout tall body, deep – neither blackish nor whitish. Orange fawn (apricot) should be uniform throughout all body. Not fawn or cream or red fawn. Red fawn must be uniform throughout all body, never pass into orange fawn.
