History: Although this breed is similar in appearance to some of the features of Maine Coon Cat and Norwegian Forest Cat, it is not so popular or familiar. Outside of Russia and the former Eastern European countries, it is rare.

There is little known about the origin of the breed. Probably these cats in Siberia have existed since immemorial time, although cat lovers have only discovered them recently. The ancients of Siberian Cats they can be Norwegian Forest Cats or Angoras that blend with shorthaired inland local cats.

Temperament: As we mentioned, the character of Siberian Cats resembles a Norwegian Forest Cat. They like climbing very much. They like attention, care and cuddling, but they are not curious about the ingenuity. They keep their dignity at all costs. With other cats and dogs they are getting well, as well as with children.

Body: The body is medium-sized and muscular, slightly longer than high. The neck is short and strong, the legs are medium-length and the toes between the fingers must be interspersed. The tail is thick at the root, with a slightly rounded toe. The cat's head should be ideally short, blunt and triangular, rounded profile. The nose is broad and slightly bent, but it does not have a stop. The faces are massive, the chin strong and distinctive. Ears are large with rounded toes. There are earbuds and distinctive ear-plugs. The slightly oval eyes are large and lie quite far apart.

Care: Siberian Cat's coat does not require much care. Cat´s coat is able to clean itself. It is advisable to comb the coat in a place where it may snap like ears between fore and hind legs or chest. Like a Norwegian Forest Cat, it is going through a brief, intense moulting period in summer.

Coat: Siberian´s Cat hair is medium to long, self-cleaning, it repels water and dirt. The undercoat is dense, the hairs are long and oily. On blades, the coat is usually slightly shorter.

Colour variants: The Siberian cat's coat can have different colours e.g. natural colours, Himalayan badges or chocolate or lilac colour. However, these colours do not recognize all organizations. The presence of white colour in the coat or the symmetry of the badges is secondary.

It is most commonly recognized in red and black and their dilutions are creamy and blue. These colours can be rich or aguti, then they are blotched tabby, tartar (mackerel tabby) or spotted tabby. It is also permitted to have tortoise or tortoise tabby. Eye´s colour is amber or green. Very rarely, you can come across a pure white cat or a Van cat. They may have blue eyes or any other colour. The cat of this breed with Himalayan badges is called the New Masquerade. This colouring has been recognized since 2009 by FIFe as a separate sister´s breed.
