Alpine Dachsbracke Group VI. - Scent hounds and related breeds, Section 2 - Leash scent hounds with working trial

General Appearance:

Alpine Daschbracke is hard working hunting dog that follows the scent track. It is always loud (barking). It only moves from hunter in short distance. It was requested by members of The Kennel Club.

Kennel Club was founded in the late 19th century. This breed is a hardworking, tenacious, fearless, resistant to weather .It is independent in game .It is calm and quiet at home.

It has a little opportunity to be at home and be gentle companion. It can be very nice companion, too.

It usually lives with hunters. With sufficient contact with the owner it is a nice, lively, sociable dog. It is very different behaviour by dogs that are except hunting kept only in outdoor kennel.

Today it is used mainly for searching hurt deer and hunting of hares and foxes. It is absolutely fearless, and therefore also it is used for hunting wild boars, that is, e.g. If the wild boar wounded, for dogs it is very dangerous. The smaller size is at such a clash for the dog advantage - it is relatively small for a rival, and therefore less pointing goal.

Temperament & Behaviour:

Base of training is kindness and fix attitude to this breed. Hard training methods that are basically nothing more than torturing a dog. That all is leading only for its stubbornness. Try to break its psychological side is counterproductive. It refers to natural independence we cannot expect absolute slavish obedience, but with proper leadership (a good relationship with the owner) it is very good controlled dog.

Body:

This is a small but strong and robust hunting dog with the shortened limbs with powerful, dry muscled skeleton. Wither related to the length of the body as a 2: 3, which means that the format of the body is rectangular. Height at wither is 34-42 cm, the ideal is considered to range from 37 to 38 cm male and 36-37 cm female.

Lips suit to the jaw and teeth, viewed from the front at the edges slightly rounded. The edges of the lips should be black. Dentition should be completed, it is needed that consists of 42 teeth. Despite the requirement of full dentition is not a valid standard notes that the absence of two premolars 1 or 2 (P1 or P2) is tolerated and the molars 3 (M3) is not taken into account. It requires a complete scissor or pincer bite (upper incisors 6, 6 below). Teeth should be strong.

Iris is dark brown. The rims are black, close to the eyeballs.

The earlobes should be suspended, high set without folds, broad and smooth, medium length (without violence stretch ahead must reach the fangs). The ends are nicely rounded.

The tail should be high set, thick at the base, carried slightly down. Drawn reaching almost to the ground. Coat on its bottom side is longer and forms a so-called - brush.

The chest is broad and deep with well-developed forechest. Its depth should be roughly equal to 1/2 height of withers. The front legs are straight and strong in proportion to the overall size of the individual short.

Hindquarters should be muscular, strong and moderately angulated. Viewed from the rear straight (the hocks cannot be convergent or divergent). Feet should be large, round with well-knit toes, deep pads and black nails.

Coat consists perfectly fitting o outer coat of medium length (i.e. temporary length “Stockhaar” in German lang. and in English. Double Coat) that evenly covers the whole body, and dense undercoat. Under ideal colour is considered deep colour shade red deer with a slight black shading or without, or black and tan i.e. tanning forms bounded rust-coloured markings on head above the eyes, on the front of the chest (on both sides of the chest), of the limbs, including the feet and around the anus. White badge on the front of the chest (middle) is permitted.

Faults include weak bones, weak muscles, too pointed, too short or too long muzzle, very light eye, eyelids, earlobes short or end pointed, loose shoulders, badly angulated front or hind limbs, hair too thin or too short coat colour other than required by the standard.
