General Appearance:

Character is nice, kind to the people and thoroughly friendly, calm and very patient, good-natured, wholly devoted to its owner and emotionally tied to him. Necessarily it needs to live in its vicinity when it is permanently housed in an outdoor kennel, it suffers psychologically. It can, however, be reserved, e.g. If it is wrongly shout to, and if necessary, it is appropriately independent as any hound.

Because it is sensitive to praise and rebuke, it needs loving, hospitable, although consistent leadership. It is never dealing aggressively, if it is not spoilt by bad procedure, training etc. To other dogs and other pets it is very tolerant and children including the youngest.

Training/Behaviour:

Today this breed is mainly social breed, but it is still useful for hunting, especially for searching wounded deer and as a tracker, e.g. when the police search for missing persons, criminals or escaped prisoners.

Efforts to encourage it by rough instructional techniques sharpness they leads clearly to its betrayed. Thanks to the structure of the body is endowed with great endurance, which had been exceptional sense of smell to track trace without special effort at considerable distances and in difficult terrain and under harsh weather conditions.

Body:

It is a powerful dog, one of the largest hound, harmonious physique, strong bones, muscles proper, overall very robust, but not cumbersome appearance, acting impressive and noble impression. Posture is sublime, corporal rectangular format. The length of the body is rate height at withers 10: 9. Ideal height at withers is 68 cm male and female is 62 cm at tolerance of + / -4 cm. Weight of body, male is 46-54 kg for females is from 40 to 48 kg.

The nose may be black or brown. For black-and-tan individuals are always black. It must be broad, strong, with appropriately open nostrils. Teeth should be complete, scissor bite, pincer however, it is admissible. Teeth are strong, white and regular in massive jaws.

The eyes may be dark brown or hazel (colour hazelnut) in individuals without black "saddle" or "shell" may be lighter (amber) colour. They are medium-sized, oval. They may not weep, be bulging or sunken. Iris should be visible throughout. Too deep or very small eyes are undesirable. The edges of the eyelids must be whole, without any irregularities. They cling tightly to the eyeballs, but looser lower eyelids partially revealing conjunctiva are tolerated. Too loose eyelids are not desirable. Lushes must never touch the cornea (the eye irritants). The expression is gentle, kind and dignified, a little sad.

The earlobes are thin and flexible, covered with short, soft by the touch velvet coat. They have to be very long, so without violence stretched forward reach at least the nose tip. The tail should be long, thick, high set in line with the topline of the body. Towards the tip is gradually narrowing. Coat body should be short, perfectly tight, dense, fairly tough and resistant to bad weather. The head and earlobes hair is very short and soft by the touch. On the underside of the tail is a little longer and coarser.

Coat colour can be black and tan, brown and tan uniform or red. For black-and-tan colour black individuals may form a "cloak" or "saddle". For individuals with a "jacket" black predominates called -tan (variously rich tan markings) on the muzzle, on the cheeks, above the eyes, on the front chest, legs and around the anus. In subjects with "saddle" predominates tan because the black is limited to the batch dorsal of body. The same distribution of colours is by the individual brownish-tan (liver and tan and tan).
