Bavarian Mountain Scenthound

FCI:

Scenthounds and related breeds Group VI, Section 2 - Leash Hounds with working trial

General Appearance:

It is hardy, agile and reliable, calm and serene character, devoted to its owner, reserved towards strangers. Breeders prefer this dog who is fearless, confident and teachable and not the least bit shy or aggressive. Hunters only breed with dog, but it can also be a nice and pleasant companion dog.
It is naturally very obedient, gentle and friendly, but also very sensitive, depending on the owner and owner´s family. It does not like staying always in outdoor kennel. If it is socialized from young age, it is getting well with strangers and dogs with various small domestic pets. It can well tolerate with older, calmer and intelligent children, but it does not like wild games with small children

Training:

It requires a friendly attitude, calm and nice strictness, even during hunting training, too. When it is a cruel, hard and violent training it becomes aggressive, shy.

If it is not used regularly for hunting it requires daily long walks in the countryside.
