General Appearance:

The Alaskan malamute is an affectionate, friendly, outgoing - not a "one-man dog." This faithful, devoted companion of the owner and members of his family never refuses a challenge to play, but it usually draws the attention of its adulthood in a dignified manner. It is impressive by the fearless, independent, proud and talented considerable confidence. You can see outstanding toughness and perseverance. It is valued for strength and endurance, obedience, intelligence and hunting skills.

Temperament / Behaviour:

It is suitable for abundant natural authority, calm and balanced character. Well tolerated with other dogs, but only if dog grew up with them and got a chance to get used to them (early socialization is very much needed).

It is not intended as a pulling sled dog designed to compete in speed races, it is ideal for delivering a performance that requires strength and endurance and   its typical exterior characteristics. The greatest emphasis is on the ability to tow a sledge dog intended for transporting heavy loads in arctic conditions.

Welcome, if it is all year round, even in the biggest frost, it can stay outside - but not always. It should be penned for all cases in shed, although most it loves sleeping outdoors, when it can be covered   by ply of snow.

It requires frequent and long walks, not suitable for people whose physical powers are limited. It is recommended to have this breed on leash because an owner cannot be absolutely sure that at all times it obeys and turns back after calling. The sports exercise its physical condition is the best races of pulling sledge dogs and racing in hauling heavy loads (pulling).

Body:

It is a strong and powerfully built dog with deep chest and strong, well-muscled body. A proud carriage, head erect, eyes staring curiously, with keen interest. The ideal height at the withers is 63.5 cm, males and females 58.5 cm. Body weight is on average 38.5 kg in dogs and 34 kg females.

The head is broad and deep, harmonious shapes and elegant. Facial expression is friendly and must clearly reflect a kind and friendly nature. The skull should be wide towards the eyes somewhat flatter and narrower, with marked longitudinal front furrow between its   eyes. The frontal slope is gradual, broad muzzle and powerful, narrowing slightly. Typical drawing consists - “hood” while the facial part can be either all white or dark stripes or a "mask".

For all types of coat colour except brown nose it is black as well as pigmented lips, and eyelids, with brown-skinned individuals, brown nose. Lips are tightly fitting to the jaws and teeth. Jaws broad, big teeth, sought a scissor bite.

Eyes should be slanted, brown, almond-shaped, medium size.
