General Appearance:

Character is a calm, reliable, very sensitive dog. Absolutely it does not tolerate any coercive methods of education and training. To the owner it behaves nice, to strangers is restrained, it chooses itself if person devotes its favour. This dog is raised for its ability to extraordinary levels of performance and cooperation with the hunter.

Like other hounds it behaves at home very obedient and when it is hunting it is very agile. At home is gentle and affectionate and easy to use, only a little comfortable even lazy. In the game it behaves very independently, it is a hardy, tough, passionate labour.

It is almost entirely in the hands of hunters, farmers-hunters also abandoning puppies usually just other hunters. It may also be an excellent companion for humans. It loves too much excitement. Although to children it is tolerant. It is enthusiastic companion of their games, especially if they are violent.

Training/Behaviour:

Unlike other hounds it usually walks and never runs away, when your puppy has reliably learned summoning kindly rigorous training, it is better in the nature walk on a leash, because once the scent of blood, it goes on the trail. Despite its heavier constitution requires a lot of movement, long walks are necessary.

Body:

It is a medium sized, powerful, proportionally built dog with solid and muscled thoracic and pelvic limbs, which are a prerequisite extraordinary perseverance at work. Wide and deep chest provides ample space lungs, a condition necessary and relentless perseverance. The length of the body has to be height at withers 1.4:1. Height at withers male is from 50 to 55 cm and female is from 48 to 53 cm. Weight of body is from 30 to 40 kg for male and 25-35 kg for female.

Nose is large, broad, mostly black, rarely dark brown. Nasal wings are wide open. Jaws must be appropriately powerful, very strong and straight. They provide enough space 42 teeth. A full set of teeth, bite may be a scissor or pincer.

Eyes may not be protruding or sunken and dark brown iris colour. Eyelids are lying close to the eyeballs. It is unacceptable ectropion and entropion. The earlobes are set high, broad at the base, hung on the tops bluntly rounded. Close and flat to the head.

The neck is long and strong, toward the shoulder is gradually expanding. The skin on the neck is loose, small adjoining dewlap permitted. Back is strong, loin slightly arched, broad and flexible. The stern should have proper width and length, and towards the root of the tail slightly inclined.

The tail is set high, long and slightly saggy. Towards the tip gradually is narrowing.

The forelegs are seen from the side perpendicular to the substrate level. In normal (zoo-technical) positions are directly under the body. When viewed from the front should be straight and positions are fairly close together. Force corresponds to the cardinality of the body. Feet should be strong, round shape with correspondingly arched tight toes and strong and large padded. Nails are solid.

The hindquarters must be viewed from the side in position statics or moved backwards, moderately angulated, straight seen from behind. Force corresponds to the cardinality of the body.

The hair must be short, dense. On the back of the thigh is slightly longer and coarser. Hair on the tail should be thick and rough bottom a little longer and coarser.
Coat colour is pale to dark red (shade of red deer), sparsely or densely streaked with a "mask" (dark-coloured muzzle and face) or without it. White markings on the front of the chest are permitted.

Faults include a square body format, lightweight (thin) bones, absence of first premolars (P1) or other teeth, overshot or undershot jaw, small or corkscrew earlobes, excessive over built, uttered or so. Roach back (arched as carp fish roach, specie Rutilus Rutilus), barrel chest, tail strongly curved or thin, steep blades or loose.
