Border Terrier
FCI:
Border Terrier Group III. - Terriers

Standard FCI considers Border Terrier still primarily as a hunting dog that must be able to accompany hunters on horse and still “passion” go for the game. Pack of the hounds their blood is circulating in their veins in the nature it manifests generally good tolerance towards other dogs than in some other predominantly or exclusively terriers used for hunting. This is a very convenient feature for a companion dog - it is essentially free of conflicts, disputes with other dogs, rather tends to avoid them, although it is brave enough. Only some individuals "suffer" so- complex small dog that is similar to the Napoleon complex by humans - provoke members of large breeds.
Temperament & Behaviour:
It is a matter of correct leadership, i.e. the widest possible early socialization and continuing education, kindly to avoid not acceptable behaviour that must be maximally dimmed. Border Terrier excels at intelligence is extremely tough, cheerful, optimistic and based literally full of energy, which is the need to apply in some activity. Its playfulness is immense, and therefore it gets very well with children. Due to its mobility and activity may be eligible to participate in the games that it can be its agility, skill and size and wilder.
It loves the owner and other family members, and they are strongly fixed. It desires for owner love, attention, touch, owner must not neglect this dog. You need time for this breed, pay attention, not just shout at it without any purpose. It should not spend a lifetime with the exception of hunting utilization in an outdoor pen, permanent contact with humans, if yes, it would greatly missed contact with people.
Strong hunting instinct dictates chase everything alive, why it cannot possibly cohabit with other pets, rats, guinea pigs, ferrets, cats and exotic birds. By strict training you can indeed teach it that these pets it must not chase however, it does not change the fact that pets would never be left alone without supervision person. Strange small animals, pet will also chase with undiminished intensity, because the desire to chase and catch any small animal (even a hen) will not leave it. Therefore it is important for owner that dog will be perfectly controllable and called back without any problems.
Because it is very lively, bright it is not necessarily need plenty of exercise and mental activity. Thanks to its vibrancy, docility and diligence is very suitable e.g. for agility training. It requires daily long walks, as well as possibly training, working plenty of time. Who does not have any garden, time to pay attention to it, you should choose another breed instead, that you can find among the terriers.
Border Terrier can simultaneously be both a social dog after appropriate training and powerful hound, too. It can work all together. When hunting it is literally its base, however, without hunting it is not unhappy. If the owner pays a lot of attention to this breed and gives it an opportunity everyday work e.g. training of any dog sports complying with its size and the base it is happy. If it has to be at home alone, it needs the toys .
